Founded in Zurich in 2024, Atelier Sofia Ferrari is an architectural practice working between renovation, rural contexts and small-scale interventions. The studio approaches architecture through a close reading of place engaging with existing structures, local materials and the layered relationship between landscape, history and everyday life.
Sofia Ferrari studied architecture at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and at ETH Zurich, where she graduated in 2020 with a free Diploma under Professor Momoyo Kaijima.
During her studies she worked with Atelier Bow-Wow in Tokyo, E2A, Vogt Landschaftsarchitekten and Schmidlin Architekten in Zurich. These experiences shaped her approach from the observation of everyday architecture to the relationship between construction and landscape, and the practical knowledge gained through rural renovation and timber building in the Grisons. Her work today continues this line of inquiry, focusing on architecture as a process that builds on what is already there.
Since 2023 she has been a teaching assistant at the Chair of Architectural Behaviorology at ETH Zurich.
